Daily Questions 1: Likability

Gilda Flint

--

How much of our time is spent trying to appear likable? And what does that attempt cost us?

Likable: having qualities that bring about a favorable regard: PLEASANT, AGREEABLE.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary

  • How much energy do you expend each day trying to manage other people’s perceptions of you, in the hope that you’ll avoid situations that highlight differences and possibly lead to conflict with others?
  • What do you fear may happen if people perceive you as unlikable?
  • What do you think might happen if you shifted your focus from trying to control how likable other people find you to being more authentic, instead?
  • What do you think you might achieve with the extra time, and mental and emotion energy that is freed up by no longer trying to manage other’s thoughts, feelings and perception of you?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
