Question: Who are the 10 people in your life that you give the most to, in terms of time, energy and other resources? (It may be helpful to look at the adults around us, rather than dependent children)

Categorize. Who are your nearest or dearest? Who are close friends and relatives, whom would you rate as acquaintances or work colleagues that you spend large chunks of time with on the daily?

Consider: Using two columns, note how you provide support for those 10 people, and estimate the percent of your daily energy you give to each of them. Support can look like time, money, emotional support or knowledge, for example. In the second column, note the ways that each of them give the same things to you.

Notice: Look at the status of the person in your life, in terms of their importance to you.

Who are the people that you spend the majority of your daily energy on, and where do you get the most support from?

Are there any changes you would like to make in the amount and direction of your energy flow, or see in the energy that flows to you?

Note two people that you would like to direct more of your energy into and jot down one thing that you could do for them daily for the next 7 days that would mean you gave more to them.

Note down two people that you feel you give a lot of your energy and effort to that you would like to see reciprocal energy from or reduce the amount of energy you expend with them. Jot down one thing you could ask them to help you with or a way you can guard against them having too much of your energy, eg. matching their energy or drawing a boundary. Or you could just decide to pour less energy into that person so that you can direct more of to the other people in your life this week.
