Stranger in a strange land

Moon Tarot Card (AI Generated by Author)

My compass is broken and I can’t get my bearings from my surroundings.

The line between reality and illusion is blurred. Bathed in silvery moonlight, I’m not sure if what I’m seeing around me is solid and a reliable point of reference, or merely an ominous shadow, cloaking potential threats. I need the light of day to banish the shadows so I can see things clearly.

At my feet, a path winds off into the murky distance. There, two towers stand like the silent sentinels of an unknown country. I cannot turn back: the landscape behind me is barren, there is nothing left there to sustain me.

Staying here will not pull me out of the uncertainty. Nothing will change until I reach the illuminating daylight beyond the distant curve of the horizon.

I must put one foot in front of the other and follow the path without faltering, despite my destination being unclear.

Setting off in the moonlight, I move cautiously on the path, looking for obstacles and holes obscured by shadow. My only certainty is this path underfoot, and the knowledge that if I follow it, at some point night will become day and the landscape will become clear again.

Periodically I raise my eyes to the towers in the distance, noticing that they are growing closer, then continue, determined that my fears about what may lurk in the shadows will not halt my progress.

After a long, dark night I raise my eyes and notice a sliver of golden light has begun to seep along the horizon. The night is over, the day has arrived, ready to flood this dark world with it’s brilliance and show me where I am.

My dark journey is over.
