To Be Or Not To Be Good Enough
The quality of your life shouldn’t be a binary concept
Not every area of your life needs work. Not every area of you life needs to work. Having a good life doesn’t mean having a perfect one.
You don’t need to perform the whole ‘new life, new me’ total overhaul that we see everywhere as January 1st rolls around every year to own a life that you find engaging, meaningful and fulfilling. Rather, striving to identify problem areas and work on those incrementally is a more useful path to help us improve its overall quality.
If we examine different arenas of our lives, everyone is going to have areas that could be designated as problematic. Perhaps there are others that can be seen as neutral or self maintaining and, as such, can be ignored for the time being while you focus on more pressing issues. And there will be areas that are just plain, undeniably, good.
You may not see the really good parts of your life at first, because often when we have areas that are working well they become base level for our experience and kind of get relegated to background noise because they don’t demand our attention. But if you think about it, there are always things, no matter their size, to be thankful for. Those are the ones that you need to take note of, literally: write down what’s truly excellent in your life right now, and be…
