Ugh, Woody hates women, and only finds them useful if they fuck him or make him somehow look good. I think Diane Keaton dumped him, and he has spent the rest of his life in some kind of toxic friend-zone, chipping away at her passive-agressively when he gets the chance. All these people speak about his genius and strength of vision, but he likes to make himself out to be this bumbling awkward innocent who somehow who doesn't understand the jokes he's making are off-color. It's an act, in my view - he's a priviledged man in a position of great power, who takes what he wants and doesn't think he should have to explain himself to anyone. Thanks for this Shannon, you've explained so much, so well.
