We shouldn’t be trying to engage in some kind of oppression Olympics to see who has the most genuine grievance while being dismissive of others narratives, and I find the ‘othering’ of Anne Frank as representative of some kind of entitled white girl/lady trope distasteful. Sure, rail against the system that chooses to tell her story instead of the thousands of other narratives of oppression, prejudice and violence in our own backyards, but Anne didn’t in anyway seek to put herself forward as representative of anything; she was merely a child who wrote a diary and what others did with it - any agenda they might have pushed using it as material — happened after her death and beyond her control.
